The Construction Maintenance Institute
CMI-CJA Membership
If you would like to become a CMI Member, please download the appropriate form and (along with your check), mail it to Lisa Richardson, Virginia Department of Corrections, P.O. Box 14024, Richmond, VA 23225. Please note that in order to attend the conference you must be a CMI Member, Affiliate Member, or Exhibitor. CMI encourages Exhibitors to become Affiliate Members.
Full CMI Membership is restricted to public employees who are actively involved with criminal justice related construction and maintenance. Public agencies can include federal, state, or local jurisdictions as well as county courthouses. Membership applications for public employees can be found here.
Non-public employees such as vendors, architects, engineers, or individuals with an interest in construction or maintenance of criminal justice facilities may obtain an "affiliate" membership here. Affiliate members have all of the same benefits that full members do, except cannot be elected as a board member or have voting privileges.
Affiliate Membership allows private, for-profit corporations, architects or engineering firms to have direct interaction with federal, state, or county employees who work in prisons, jails, or county courthouses and whose responsibilities include capital budgeting, planning, design, construction or maintenance of these facilities. The CMI conferences are the primary means for CMI members and affiliates to share information on vendor products, discuss facility related issues, suggest new products or improve existing products.
CMI is the only professional organization that deals specifically with facilities-related correctional issues.
For those wishing further information about CMI can read the CMI Bylaws here.
(Please note: the $40.00 memberships are due January 1, 2011. You must be a member to attend the conference.)e

If you are an employee of a governmental agency responsible for the construction or maintenance of criminal justice facilities, please consider CMI and this conference as an opportunity to meet and dialogue with your peers.
If you represent a company involved in detention products, or correctional design and construction, please consider this conference as your opportunity to converse with the correctional professionals who are responsible for the selection of products and procurement of design, construction and/or maintenance services.
In keeping with the mission of CMI to serve as a clearinghouse for information relating to the construction and maintenance of criminal justice facilities, we are pleased to provide this conference forum and vendor exhibition.
This a very inexpensive professional membership that is dedicated to enhancing knowledge and sharing information regarding constructing and maintaining prisons/jails/court houses.
